It seems everyone started out this first month with enthusiasm and dedication to this endeavor as everyone had their models painted and ready to go. Everyone adhered to the Army Composition and managed to Name their Characters.

Imperial Guard - Orks

My own game this time round where I, playing the Imperial Guard, got squared off against a green skinned horde more numerous than my own forces...

Jeroen's Imperial Guard
Imperial Guard (11 Models)
Commissar Lord Tahnhauser
Veteran Squad
- Sergeant O'Malley - Shotgun
- 6 Shotguns
- Melta Guns

Rutger's Orks

Orks (14 Models)
Ork Warboss
- Warboss Argh!
- Power Klaw
13 Ork Boyz
- Nob with Powerklaw
- Big Shoota

The game was very close, the Imperial Guard was doing okay picking off the Orks one by one, but cover made this a lot harder. Once the Orks reached the Guardsmen they basically stood no chance. The game ended after turn 5 where we counted Victory Points.
Making the Imperial Guard the victor by 1 point, at this time the only models left standing were Lord Commissar Tahnhauser (2 wounds left) and 3 Ork Boyz.
For the hell of it we added a quick turn to see what would have happened if we had continued. The end result was that the Lord Commissar can look for some more cannon fodder to use next month.

Winner: Imperial Guard

Space Wolves - Necrons

The third game of the day featured John's Space Wolves squaring off against Patrick's Necrons.
Forces used in the game consisted of the following:

Patrick's Necrons
 Necrons (7 Models)
Overlord
- Overlord Imhotekh (Sempiternal Weave, Warscythe)
Necron Warriors
- Phalanx XIII

John's Space Wolves

Space Wolves (7 Models)
Wolf Guard Battle Leader
- Battle Leader Braveheart (Power Weapon)
6 Blood Claws
- Power Fist

This game marked the first time when one of the Space Marine Chapters got defeated by an opposing force.

Winner: Necrons

White Scars - Imperial Guard

Sander and Jack got the ball going by being the first two to take to the field and they got the game so fast it almost looked like they had a score to settle or something...
The two forces consisted of the following:

Sander's White Scars

White Scars (6 Models)
Space Marine Captain in Power Armour
- Captain Sandokahn
Tactical Squad
- Sergeant Khasar
- 4 Space Marines

Jack's Imperial Guard

Imperial Guard (15 Models)
Command Squad
- Company Commander (Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon)
- 2 Imperial Guardsmen
- Heavy Weapon Team (Missile Launcher)
Veteran Squad
- Sergeant
- 7 Imperial Guardsmen (2 Flamer, 1 Heavy Flamer)
- 1 Heavy Weapon Team (Missile Launcher)

This game took place further away so I did not witness the events unfolding on this battlefield up close but I do know that in the end it came down to two models. The Space Marine Captain ended up squaring off with the Company Commander.... with predictable results.

Winner: White Scars

Space Wolves - Imperial Guard

One of the two first games that was played from the get go. Both Richard and Nils took the time to setup a mission and roll for the special rule that came with the commander of their forces.
The forces they selected consisted of the following:

Richard's Space Wolves

Space Wolves (7 Models)
Wolf Priest
- Wolf Priest Haefnir
Grey Hunter Squad
- Sergeant
- 5 Grey Hunters
- Plasma Gun

Nils' Imperial Guard

Imperial Guard (15 Models)
Command Squad
- Company Commander Cruderian (Plasma Pistol)
- 4 Melta Guns
Veteran Squad
- Sergeant
- 7 Shotguns
- 3 Melta Guns

Having Observed this match it was going really well for the Imperial Guard as long as they stuck to cover, the first several turns they were picking off several of the Space Wolf models to great frustration of Richard.
The tide turned once the Space Wolves managed to get in cover and the Guard ended up being caught in the open, where they were slowly whittled down.

Winner: Space Wolves

200 Points!

So the day of our first appointed get together has rolled around and everyone met up with their 'army' (of 200 points) painted. Things were off to a good start!
The table pictured above was divided along the middle by the Fortress of Redemption to create two small areas which would allow us to play. It was decided to play the game as a Skirmish game counting each model as a separate and individual unit.

All the 200 point armies gathered together.

Opponents were randomly decided before the rest of the terrain was setup on the two tables. Having an excess of large terrain pieces the Skyshield Landing Pad and a Set of Trenches were moved off to the side and were not used.
This being the first time we actually played by the new 6th edition rules, meant the game ended up slower than originally anticipated. In the beginning the plan was to play four games of 1v1, after which we would play a 4v4 game. In the end we only did the 1v1 games because the afternoon was progressing rapidly.

The Matches were as follows:

- White Scars - Imperial Guard (Sander - Jack)
- Space Wolves - Imperial Guard (Richard - Nils)
- Imperial Guards - Orks (Jeroen - Rutger)
- Space Wolves - Necrons (Patrick - John)

During the games there was a lot of browsing through the books to look up new rules as we all slowly got more familiar with the 6th edition rules. In the following posts the composition of each players army and the end result of each battle will be listed.

Wolf Lord Richard - Progress

Here are some images provided by our own 'Wolf Lord' for the work in progress for the initial month of 200 points. He provided several stages of painting as he went along finalizing his initial selection for the Tale of Eight Geeks...

I especially like the selection of colored candles...

...I am always jealous when I see his models painted. They more than make me feel inadequate in the painting department.

And so it begins...

Below is the an images of the first 200 points belonging to Nils, the Lesser Daemon of Slaanesh. Who insists that his Imperial Guard selected for this project are pure and still serve the Emperor faithfully. So we are to just disregard the Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines standing behind them, as they are totally not coercing or corrupting the guardsmen in any way....

Long Live the Gods o..Emperor!

Who am I kidding....
Looking at this. They are damn Traitors!

Meet the Geeks #8

What's your name?

Wolf Lord Richard

How long have you been playing Warhammer 40K?

Almost 20 years.

How did you come into contact with the GW Hobby?

Through a friend of mine, Patrick.

Which Army will you be playing during this endeavor?

The Mighty Space Wolves of course!

Has this been a chance to acquire and/or tryout a new army?

Nah, I have about 8 million points worth of Space Wolves that still need painting and assembly so this was a good excuse to dust those off and get some work done.

Do you have a theme connecting the army you are building?

AAAHOOOOooooowwwww.....

Which other armies do you play?

I mostly play with my Space Wolves. Although I do have an Imperial Guard army I play with every now and then, and I have a Tau Army which I really should use one of these days...

Any hints about your Special Project?

If I wanted to give out a hint I would have to know what I wanted to do myself.

Anything you wish to add?

I hope that all of us manage to finish this project/campaign so we can all have a good time and enjoy ourselves (and end up with a painted army). Who know what else we can do afterwards.
